Welcome to the online home of IVRadio
Radio Independent Voice is a micro-power radio station legally compliant with FCC Part-15 regulations. Our current coverage includes Brighton Center and areas toward Comm Ave along Washington Street. As we build our capacity, we'll be able to include a larger area. In time, we hope to be known as Brighton's Community Radio Station. There's lots of work to do! Please drop me a line at [email protected]!
Radio Independent Voice is the on-air home of
The Spiral Dance with Hawthorne!

IV Radio/1630 is a part of the nationwide Grassroots Radio movement. What sets us apart from mainstream radio is that individual citizens are the programmers and producers of what you hear.
There’s magic and power in the concept of Grassroots Radio. In exercising our First Amendment rights people are bringing issues to the airwaves which are often misrepresented – if represented at all. Listeners are educated enlightened and empowered by grassroots radio programming. Thus Grassroots Radio stations become a lifeline in the community. The airwaves are a precious natural resource, owned by the people of the United States. But all too often the airwaves have been given over to commercialism, corporate control and censorship. IV Radio/1630 hopes to provide a forum where we can “democratize” technology in this small but important way.
